Steven Michael Koitch

Detroit, MI — Steven Michael Koitch, 62, passed away too soon on May 21st, 2019, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He was born December 30, 1956 at Ziegler hospital in Detroit, Michigan to the late Paul & Bertha Koitch.

Steve grew up in Dearborn, Michigan attending Long Elementary, O.L. Smith Junior High, and Dearborn High School. Steve was an athlete with passion for sports and played baseball and football during his junior high and high school years. He worked much of his life and retired from General Motors.

Steve was a family man, sports fan, music lover, animal lover, and much more. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his yard. He loved having bonfires and barbecuing as well. Steve couldn’t wait for the weather to break each year so that he could enjoy the outdoors. You could often find Steve at home with family and friends watching football, baseball, or hockey.

He hosted many family holidays and Sunday dinners. He loved having everyone over to enjoy meals, share laughs, and make memories. Steve cared deeply for his family and friends and would do just about anything for anyone. He will be truly missed by many.

Steve is survived by his sister Laura Owen, nieces Kerry & Kelly Traxler, nephew Bill Traxler, great niece Lauren Koehn (Justin), and great nephew Sean Mills.

    He was one of a kind and the best neighbor for 34 years! My boys loved Uncle Stevie! I’m really gonna miss him and his bonfires… summer just won’t be the same without him! Love the entire Koitch family! ❤️
