Finding someone you know has passed
Chris Jones here. You already know they died. A cousin called. Somebody posted it on Facebook and then the post disappeared. Now you want the actual obituary – the names, the dates, the service – and the internet is a mess. The paper that used to cover that town folded. The funeral home took the page down after a month. You type the name and get a pile of sites with the same three lines and a paywall. You try the maiden name. You try the town. Nothing looks like the person you knew.
That is what this box is for. Type what you remember. First name. Last name. A town. A nickname. The mill they worked at. A daughter’s married name. This search does not dump you into the rest of the web. It looks only at Obits Online – every word of every obituary we host, not just the headline. The whole story is searchable. If they are on this site, you should be able to find them – not bounce around a dozen copycat pages that all stole the same three lines.
