Bennington, Vt – Robert Christian Hamilton Sr., 78, a resident of Overlea Road in Bennington, Vermont, passed away peacefully at his home on January 4th 2022, following a short illness.
Born on January 4th, 1944, in Bennington, Vermont he was the son of the late John Francis and Edith Mary (Jesperson) Hamilton. Robert graduated from Bennington High School and shortly thereafter he enlisted in the United States Army. He was married to the late Ann Hamilton.
Robert worked for the Stanley Company at their factory in Shaftsbury. He had many fond memories of his 25 plus year career. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #13 in Bennington. He had many hobbies including; hunting, fishing, playing the spoons,working on his Plymouth Road Runner, and woodworking. Robert loved his family. He especially loved gathering them for family cookouts.
Survivors of Robert include his children; Robert Jr. (Donna Ely) of Bennington, and Katina Hamilton of Bennington. His brothers; Richard (Linda) Hamilton of Shaftsbury, and John (Sandra) Hamilton of Shaftsbury. His sister-in-law: Sheila Hamilton of North Bennington. His Grandchildren; Deseria Hamilton of Bennington, Michael Hamilton of Pownal, Samantha Hamilton of Bennington, and Nickoby Hamilton of Bennington. Robert is also survived by many great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his Brother James Hamilton.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all those who assisted with Roberts care. Especially the nurses and doctors of the South Western Vermont Medical Center and the nurses of VNA Hospice.
At this time there will be no services. A private graveside burial will take place in the spring.
