WEST ARLINGTON, VT
— Richard Joseph Dorr, 82, formerly of West Arlington, VT, passed away Friday September 28, 2018 at the Vermont Veterans Home. Richard was born in Rutland, VT on December 13, 1935 the son of the late Milton and Doris (Carter) Dorr and attended local schools.
Richard worked as a production expediter, retiring from Stanley Tools after many years. He also worked at the Cullinan Store as a butcher. Richard was a former member of the Arlington American Legion and was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII serving in Okinawa, Japan for 8 years.
Richard loved hunting and listening to country music. He loved siting on his front porch, his Jeep, four wheeler rides, camping and picnicking. He was always willing to help others.
Richard is survived by his children Brian Dorr of Syracuse, NY, Bruce Dorr of Chandler, Arizona, Brenda Dunlap of Arlington, VT, Jennifer Downey of Buckeye, Arizona and Jeff Dorr of Pembroke, NH, sisters Patty Petty and Maryanne Bruso both of Rutland, VT and Judy Bailey of Pittsford, VT in addition to 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne (Cross) Dorr whom he married March 2, 1957 in Arlington, Mrs. Dorr passed away May 25, 2011. Brothers Buddy and Reggie Dorr as well as sisters Beverly Rosmus and Bunny Munson pre-deceased Richard.
Funeral Information
Funeral services for Richard will be held Saturday October 6, 2018 at 11am at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Route 7A Arlington, VT. Interment with military honors to follow in the family lot in West Arlington Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
