Raymond Wilson

Springfield VT – Raymond “Bill” Wilson 87, passed away at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Ct. after a long illness. He was born August 3, 1935 in Springfield, Vt. the son of Irwin W. and Lucindy (Butterfield) Wilson. He attended Springfield Schools and served in the Army National Guard.

On December 3, 1966 He married Bertha Tyler in Brownsville, Vt., She predeceased him on October 17, 2002.  In 2006 He married Cynthia Toolin in Enfield, Ct.

Bill worked 30 plus years with Miller Construction in Windsor, Vermont. After retiring from construction and driving trucks Bill worked at the Tree Farm Campground in Springfield for 13 years, and later at the Southern Car Auction in Windsor, Ct. and at Kelley Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep dealership in Springfield, Vt.

Bill enjoyed photography, had a great eye for craft design (earning 285 ribbons at state fairs and the Big E)., enjoyed fall foliage rides, collected die cast metal cars and trucks, and had a train collection. Bill loved life, He was kind hearted and generous, he loved his family and was a good husband, father, and grandfather. He loved animals and animals loved him, especially cats.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia Toolin-Wilson, sister Leona Barror, four grandchildren; Tom Romano, William Romano, Amy Romano, and Jessica Martin, three great grandchildren; Madelyn Martin, William Reed Romano, and Amelia Joy Romano, son-in-law Orazio Romano. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his daughter Linda Romano in January 2022.

Friends may call at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vt. on Sunday evening December 4 from 6:00 to 8:00.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday December 5, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield. A luncheon will follow at the St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
