John Robert Carlsen II

Pottstown PA – John Robert Carlsen, II, 78, of Pottstown, PA, died peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Seasons Hospice, Phoenixville, after a battle with cancer. He was born December 13, 1942, in Providence, RI, a son of the late John Robert I and Christina Alice Carlsen.

John was a 1960 graduate of Cambridge Central School, NY, and a proud alumnus of both Loyola Baltimore and SUNY Stonybrook. He retired from GE/Lockheed Martin in 2008, where he worked as a Program Manager and Marketing Chief Engineer. His career gave him the opportunity to travel throughout the US and all over the world. In his leisure time, he enjoyed cycling, golf, reading, wine, and travelling, especially to western Europe and the US National Parks. He loved gathering with his immediate and extended family, and always had interesting and humorous stories to share. John deeply loved and was loved by his family, and he will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; four children, Tara Dennis of Toronto, ON; Benjamin Carlsen and his wife Kimberly, of Castle Rock, CO; Jared Carlsen and his wife Jennifer of State College; and Kristi Carlsen of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, Lucille, Annika, Aaron, and Alexander; brother Tom Carlsen and his wife Linda of Plattsburgh, NY; stepsons, Shawn Lamson of Pompano Beach, FL, and Jeffery Lamson, his wife, Stacey and daughter, Hannah, of Slippery Rock; and a large extended family. Preceded in death by his first wife, Susan (Keyes) Carlsen in 2001, and his brother, David Carlsen.

John will be memorialized by his immediate family in a private celebration of his life. He will be interred at the New St. Aloysius Cemetery in Pottstown. To plant trees in memory, please visit this Sympathy Store.
