Jessie Sandra “Sandie” Robinson Eldredge

Sandy, Utah – Jessie Sandra “Sandie” Robinson Eldredge was born June 16, 1937, in Junction, Utah.  She was the oldest of four children born to Richard Lynn Robinson and Daphne Ann Sprague.  Due to the ongoing depression, their family moved several times while she was young to find work to support the family.   Growing up, she enjoyed dancing at her mother’s studio, playing the piano, and performing with her mother and sisters.  She adored her baby brother.

The family eventually moved to Ely, Nevada.  It was while she was there, she met her first husband in high school, James Ross Prince. She was married to “Jim” Prince in early 1954.  They had 5 sons: James Ross Prince, Jr., Gary Lynn Prince (Cynthia), Craig Alan Prince (Marlene), Rodney Gene Prince (Mindy), and Troy Lewis Prince (Danelle).  They divorced in 1965.

Sandie met Don while working at the same company.  On November 15, 1972, Jessie Sandie Robinson married George Donald Eldredge.  They were later sealed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Provo Temple on May 31, 1992.  Together, Sandie and Don welcomed an additional son, Todd Gardner Eldredge (Shan).  He was the joy of their life (and therefore, quite spoiled by them 😊).  They enjoyed watching him dance, sing, and play sports (especially wrestling).  They enjoyed being together all the time.  Don was a mason and was required to travel long distances to jobs.  When circumstances permitted, he enjoyed her and Todd’s company while working away from home.

Sandie and Don lived in Granger (West Valley City), UT; Rawlins, WY; Diamond Bar, CA; and Junction, UT.  After almost 25 years of marriage, Don died on August 5, 1997.

Sandie continued living in Junction, Utah for another 11 years.  In 2008, Sandie moved to Sandy, UT to live in a senior apartment community so she could get help with some of her health concerns.  In 2014, she moved in with her son’s family to get additional support until she passed away peacefully, while being supported by all her living sons (Gary, Craig, and Todd) and a grandson (Jimmie) and his wife (Daysha), on October 23, 2022, at 12:48 p.m.

Besides raising 6 sons and spending all her life taking her boys to practices and watching them play sports, she also taught tap and ballet and served as the drill team coach at Piute High School for several years where she had a positive influence on many young women.  Those who knew her said she was so much fun, always had a smile on her face, and a contagious laugh.  Even while she was in the hospital and rehabilitation centers, caregivers would often comment how they loved Sandie and how she made them laugh a lot.  Some called Sandie their favorite patient.

Sandie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel.  She never wavered and was completely loyal to her beliefs.  She relied on that knowledge and testimony to give her faith and hope.  The gospel was her anchor while raising 5 young boys alone for 7 years.  She served in many capacities in her church.  She taught children, taught youth, led youth organizations, and played the organ for the congregations she attended.  She loved serving in the temple.  She held family home evening with her boys.  Their favorite hymn was “Let Us All Press On” which they sang each week with smiles and laugher.  Sandie absolutely loved her grandchildren and, when she could, she enjoyed supporting them in their concerts, ballgames, marriages, and other life events.

Sandie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Donald Eldredge, three of her sons (Rodney Gene Prince, Troy Lewis Prince and James Ross Prince Jr.), brother-in-law Dennis Wright, and her sister Kara Lynne Farr.

Sandy is survived by her sister Ann Robinson Wright, brother Jeff Robinson (Bonnie), brother-in-law Bill Farr, and her sons Gary Lynn Prince (Cynthia), Craig Alan Prince (Marlene) and Todd Gardner Eldredge (Shan). She has 28 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints South Jordan River Ridge Stake Center (10168 S. 1100 W, South Jordan, UT, 84095) on Saturday, October 29, 2022.  A public viewing for friends and family will be held that morning from 9:00am – 10:00am.  The funeral will begin at 10:30am.  We also invite friends and family to a graveside service later that day at 3:30pm at the Junction Cemetery in Junction, UT.
