— Jane E. LeCount, 91, devoted mom, grandma, aunt, and friend, joined her husband, Josiah, and son, Richard, in that heavenly place in the clouds with her children close by.
Born February 5, 1927, in Falmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the third daughter, “middle button”, of Richard and Carmen (Peterson) Martin.
Following high school graduation from Huntington High, Long Island, Jane took herself to the big city, NYC, to find an occupation. With her passion to read and write, G.P. Putnam’s found her at their door. Behold! One career began.
On trips back to Northport, Jane soon met the love of her life, Josiah A. LeCount, who she married at Trinity Church in Northport, N.Y. They were married 68 years before he passed away. With the vicissitudes of married life, Jane discovered another career – hostess waitress at a most popular restaurant, Links Log Cabin. When that was not enough for this ambitious lady, Jane discovered real estate as another passion! For over 40 years, Jane was the driving force behind LeCount Real Estate. Her dedications to the town and people of Warrensburg led to her many accomplishments including Citizen of the Year, Realtor of the Year, and involvement with the Chamber of Commerce, Warrensburg Historical Society, and the founding of World’s Largest Garage Sale. For many years, she was a member of Church of the Holy Cross.
In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband, Josiah LeCount, who passed away May, 2017, and a son, Richard LeCount, and four siblings.
