Bruce “Moose” Bell

Pownal, VT – Bruce “Moose” Bell, 61, a resident of Pownal, Vermont passed away unexpectedly on December 16th, 2022 at his residence.

He was born in Adams, MA on January 10, 1961 to the late Donald Rex Bell and Lois Holland.

He attended McCann Technical School and St. Joseph’s college. Bruce was a certified welder and mechanic. A jack of all trades; he was employed at Berkshire Iron Works for many years, assistant chief of police for Cheshire, MA, held a position as the Constable for Pownal, parts manager at Tornebens and was well known for being a radio broadcaster for WBTN 1370, as well as a local DJ.

He also was a member of the Pownal Fire Department for many years and hosted the Pownal Fire Department Bingo.
Bruce used to race his “Lucky Lady” at the Devil’s Bowl and Lebanon Valley Speedways and loved to spend time on his motorcycle. Moose was always doing something to stay busy. He loved everybody and was loved by everybody.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Holly Bell (O’Dell), of Pownal, VT, and his two daughters, Kristy (Joe) Pratt, of Pownal, VT and Joliene Bell, of Pownal, VT. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Bryianna Vallieres, of Pownal, and a half brother, Russell Holland, of Boston, Ma. Three nieces; Cindy (Smitty) Smith, of North Bennington, VT, Suzie (Mike) Cortoba, of Pownal, VT, Lyda Schudder, of Barstow, CT, two nephews; John Scaffnick, of Adams, MA and Eric Schaffnick, of Adams, MA and an aunt, Ellen Cardinal. Bruce has a large extended family, including Shelby Clemos, of Dalton, MA, and her three children; Keegan, Andrew and Bruce. He will be deeply missed by his four legged best friend Zoey and his feline friend Skeeter.

A memorial service for Bruce was held at 4:00pm on December 22nd, 2022 at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington, VT.
