Wheaton, Il – On July 14 this year, Allan would have been 77 years old. After struggling with valley fever and cancer diagnoses over the past five years, Allan died peacefully at home in Wheaton, IL on February 5 with this wife Mary Jo (Lewman) at his side.
Both Allan and Mary Jo grew up in Elmhurst, graduating from York High School in 1961 and 1962 respectively. Al pledged Chi Psi fraternity at the University of Illinois/ Urbana and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1965. He was active in the Men’s Glee Club and a founding member of The Other Guys.
Al was an outgoing, talkative, humorous guy; he taught himself to play guitar, played in a local garage band, and was a lifetime member of the Westowns Barbershop Chorus and Jukebox Quartet.
Allan was predeceased by his daughter Jody Lynn in 1986 and by his parents Leonard A. Becker, M.D. and Ann (Carius) Becker. He is survived by his son Jeffrey (Rebecca) of Omaha, his brother Jerry (Betsy) of Omaha, his sister Judy of Massachusetts, and by his four nephews and two nieces and their families.
