Oscar Franklin Capen

Oscar Franklin Capen, 75, a resident of Daisy Lane, passed away Saturday February 4, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Oscar was born in Jamaica, VT on March 5, 1947 the son of the late Howard E. and Ruby A. (Beers) Capen and attended Manchester, Vermont schools.

Oscar worked for Vermont Marble for over 13 years and was a self-employed logger for many years after that. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Masonic Lodge in Manchester, The Christian Motorcycle Association and a Square-Dancing Organization.

Oscar enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, square dancing and cherished times spent with his family.

Oscar is survived by his wife Rosamond “Rose” E, (Rowe) Capen of Danby whom he married June 25, 1967 in Peru, VT, daughters Rosalie Bush (Charles) of Danby and Irene Moffit (Bruce) of Petersburg, NY, sisters Ruby Capen of Windsor, VT and Lois Goddard of Chester, VT, brothers Bert Capen of Cavendish, VT and Howard Capen of Bradford, VT, grandchildren Cassandra, Teshia, Trisha, Natasha and Tyler and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his great grandson Colton and siblings Myron, Julius and Jon Capen and his half-brother Ahail Crandall.

A celebration of life for Oscar will be held Sunday afternoon February 12, 2023 at 1pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT. A visiting hour at the funeral home will be held from 12-1pm, one hour prior to the service.
