Charles Thomas Edson

Old Bennington, Vermont – Charles Thomas Edson, PE passed away on Thursday February 16, 2023. He was born on May 8, 1936 in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bayliss Edson of 46 years, his daughter, Page Porter Ehrhardt, and grandson, Ashton Porter Ehrhardt.

He graduated from Stroudsburg High School, and received a degree in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University in 1958. He did post-graduate work at the University of Mississippi.

As a resident of Old Bennington, Vermont, he was Christian and an active member of the Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church. He worked for the New Jersey Department of Transportation for 40 years, retiring from the position of Chief Engineer an Assistant Commissioner afterward he was employed by Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. for 15 years until his retirement from the position of Vice President.

He also served in management positions for the Trustees of the Village of Old Bennington, Vermont; American Association of Transportation Officials; Academy of Science, Transportation Research Board; Strategic Highway Research Program; and other professional organizations.

A graveside service will be held at a date to be announced as soon as possible. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the graveside service scheduled for 11am on Tuesday February 21st, 2023 at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington, Vermont has been postponed indefinitely.
