Leonard Harder— Leonard A Harder, 79, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Warren Center after a long illness. 

Born in Glens Falls on January 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Arthur Harder and Viola L. Gardner. 

Leonard attended Hudson Falls school before proudly serving in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958, during the Korean War. 

When he came home, Leonard held various jobs as a laborer and construction worker. 

In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his companion, Darlene Holmes. 

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Harder and her companion, Gary Mumblo and Regina (Scott) Alden, his son, Little Lenny Harder; grandchildren include Brianna, Victoria, Scott Jr., Stephen, Michelle, Yvonne, and Crystal; great grandchildren Michael, Idaila, Junonia, Joey, Sherry, Isaac, Brodie, Cody, Zoey, and Kira; a precious great granddaughter on the way; a brother, Mike (Carmella) Havern; along with many cousins, a niece, Rosalee; a nephew, Michael; and many extended family members. 

Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 13 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. 

The family wishes to send its sincerest gratitude to the staff at the Warren Center for all of their compassion and care.

William E ThurberHOOSICK FALLS NY

— William E Thurber, or William E. ‘Chic’ Thurber 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 24, 2018 in Hoosick Falls. The son of William and Anna Thurber, he was born in Walloomsac on May 6, 1925.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the US Navy aboard the USS Shubrick and took part in the invasion of Normandy, Okinawa and South France before the ship was bombed. Chick had worked for many years as a Transportation Specialist for Niagara Mohawk for 38 years. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, V.F.W., Derby club and the American Legion. In earlier years, he had been an avid baseball and softball player along with trying out for the New York Giants. He was an avid New York Yankee fan and thank God will not see the series this year!

He leaves his daughter Lee Ann(Al) Wooddell of Cambridge, NY, sons William “Butch” Thurber (Candace) of South Carolina, James Thurber (Karen) of Colorado, and John Thurber (Darlene) of Burnt Hills, NY, in addition to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Moon) Thurber as well as brothers Joseph and Edward Thurber.

Funeral Information

Graveside services for William E Thurber will be held on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, NY. Friends may call at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home on Monday October 29th from 4-7pm. Memorial gifts may be made to the Town of Hoosick Falls Little League in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
