Bennington, VT – Linda Jean Greenslet (Gardner), 71, a lifelong resident of Bennington, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on January 2, 2023. Linda was born on January 7, 1951, the daughter of Richard and Shirley (Bump) Gardner, Sr.

Linda worked at various businesses in Bennington and the surrounding area throughout the years including CB Sports, Thompson Manufacturing, Independent Homes and the American Red Cross. She also worked at the Bennington Banner for a number of years in the advertising sales department and ran Linda’s Restaurant. She was a mainstay at the Bennington American Legion Post 13 for 18 years. She was very committed to the American Legion and was devoted to Veterans and Veteran causes. She served as an officer of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the NorShaft Lions Club. She was a huge Nascar fan, a crafter, loved bingo and frequenting the casino with her friends.

Linda was truly devoted to her loving family and dear friends and supported them in all that they did. She was very proud of them all and rejoiced in their achievements. Her relationship with her sisters and brothers was cherished. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s BMX races and cheering them on. She loved family events and always made it a point to attend, if possible. Linda was very social and could carry a conversation with anyone. She touched the lives of countless people.

Linda’s memory lives on in the hearts of her survivors: her husband, Stephen Greenslet, of Bennington VT; her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Amy Richardson, of Shaftsbury VT; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Joyce Gardner, Jr. of Bennington VT; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Gail and Edward Elmore, Sharon Gardner and Bob Harrington, Wendy Chenaille and Jim Thurber, Kim and Mike Livingston, all of Bennington; and her sister-in-law, Robin Haynes-Gardner of Shaftsbury VT. Her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Riley and Ryder Richardson; her stepchildren, Chad Greenslet, Ryan (Jacqui) Greenslet, Jodi (Lee) Morrison and Josh Greenslet, 9 step grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and her beloved dog, her ‘girl’ Minke. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Gary Gardner in 2021.

A Celebration of Life for Linda Jean Greenslet will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023; what would have been Linda’s 72nd birthday, at 2:00 PM at the Bennington American Legion Post 13.  — Bernard L. Barriere, Jr. 76, a resident of Hewitt Drive, passed away Tuesday November 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Bernard was born in Pittsfield, MA on February 10, 1942 the son of the late Bernard L. Barriere, Sr. and Norma Stossel. He attended Pittsfield High School. Bernard worked in the automobile business as a car dealer for many years.

He loved country singer Willie Nelson and his band, He and Wille were longtime friends, and attended many of his concerts over the years. He enjoyed antiques and attending antique auctions. He was also a movie buff and had a great interest in the film industry. His true passion was spending time with his family and friends at his cabin in White Creek, NY.

Bernard L Barriere JrBernard is survived by his children Bernard L. Barriere, III of North Bennington and Colleen Fleck and her husband Sigmund of Malvern, PA, step children Daniel Bona and his wife Teri Hazelton of Otis, MA and Elizabeth Barnhill and her husband Jack of Petersburg, NY, brothers Thomas Barriere of Pittsfield, MA and Robert Barriere of McAllen, TX, and sister Linda Barriere of Lee, MA., seven grandchildren, Jazmine Alibozek, Emilyn Bona, Maggie Bona, Blake and Maxx Barnhill, and Nolan and Kyle Fleck and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Bona Barriere who passed away August 6, 2008, step-son Jake Bona and brothers John and Richard Barriere, and sister Marie Barriere.

Funeral Information

A mass of Christian death and burial was celebrated Saturday Morning, December 1st, 10:30, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington. Interment followed in the family lot in Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield, MA. Visiting hours was held Friday Nov. 30 from 4-7pm at Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT.
