Quiet Days
Now comes the time of ‘can’t.’
Can’t walk alone.
Can’t do my garden chores.
Can’t vacuum or hang
out clothers.
Can’t sleep without pills.
Or cook my own meals.
So many ‘cant’s.’
Now I have to adjust to ‘cans.’
I can read, I can dream
And I can resign myself
to ne thankful
For all my many ‘haves.’
For my faithful family.
For my garden that
will bloom again.
And for my many friends
Who support and cheer me
Through these long, quiet days.
