Greenwood, Delaware Gloria Myers, 77, of Greenwood, peacefully passed away on Dec. 5, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones at home. She was the only child to the late Harry and Gloria Burgio.

She was raised in the Bronx, but moved to Delaware in her late teenage years where she met her husband of 56 years, Bobby Myers. They bought a beautiful farm where they raised their 3 children. They had a big, successful stable of Standardbred horses, racing up and down the Eastern Shore.

She was thought of as a mother to a lot of people. Gloria was the “fun” mom and the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She enjoyed going to the races, playing the slots, and spending as much time with her family as she could. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, where she would go above and beyond for everyone in the family. Gloria was a member of the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association and the United States Trotting Association.

In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her son, Robert “Boo” Myers, Jr. and her aunt, Marie C. Burgio, sister-in-law Marlene Larrimore, brother-in-law Robert Larrimore, and niece Sandy Dukes and nephew Ricky Brown.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Robert Myers, Sr.: daughters Sheila Daugherty and Robin Callahan (Kimothy Vincent): Daughter-in-law, Shannon Myers, grandchildren: Dawn Richards (Robert), Amber Tucker (Jeromy), Courtney Mitchell, Megan Carlisle (Ricky) and Macey Myers, great-grandchildren: R.J. and Carson Richards, Jonathan and Gracelyn Tucker, Andrew and Cameron Mitchell; sister-in law, Janice Agan: nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family is very grateful for all of the care and support given to Gloria by her caretakers, Bobbie Jo Scott and Bubba Perrigan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: AccentCare Hospice, 220 Continental Dr. Newark, DE 19713.

A service will be held privately.
