Colonie, NY – James A Mulholland 76, of Colonie, Passed away on Thursday December 15, 2022 at  St. Peter’s Hospice after a short illness. He was born in Albany and was the of the late James and Rose Mulholland.

Jim was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and the Junior College of Albany.

He retired after 26 years as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Delmar.

Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years Avis McCullough Mulholland; his children Matt (Denise) Mulholland and Amanda (Jon) Kosich of Rensselaerville,NY. He is the stepfather of Christian (Caryn) Barnes of Burlington NJ and Mercy Barnes (Sean) McLaughlin of Latham.

He was Papa Jim to 10 grandchildren: Ryan (Amanda Pawlikowski), Keenan and Ella Mulholland, Finn, Caroline and Beckett Kosich, Elizabeth and Camden Barnes, Daniel and Caden McLaughlin.

He loved a good game of golf with his friends, the Boston Rex Sox, Miami Dolphins and was a season ticket holder for Siena basketball games. His greatest pleasure was attending his grandkids events, concerts and sporting events.

Being an only child getting the whole blended family together was special to him. The one time a year when that happened was Easter. The gatherings were epic with as many as 40 family and extended family members attending. He was not above wearing a silly hat to lead the egg hunt.

He was a quiet, kind and generous man and he will be missed.

The family would like to thank the staff on the 4th floor of St. Peter’s hospital especially, Caroline, Ashley, Tricia, Jason, Luke and Nemra, who were very kind and compassionate and helped get him into hospice where he needed to be.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to Community Hospice Foundation, Attn: Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208. To leave a message of condolence for the family, visit www.CannonFuneral.com
