She moved to Burlington in 1954. Over the years, she had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Burlington Vermont. Everyone that met her thought she was a sweet lady.

During her lifetime she enjoyed camping at Lake Carmi.  She took great pride in her yard and gardens and spent many hours there.  Some of her favorite hobbies over the years were, country line dancing, crafting, going to garage sales and playing cards with family.

She spent many years as a volunteer at the Champlain Valley Fair, which she loved, ushering at concerts, and where she sold her crafts and helped out wherever she could.

During her working years, she worked as a secretary at General Electric and later as a cashier for both Price Chopper and PC grocery chains.

urlington, Vermont – Carmelo Colombo, loving and devoted husband and father of three, was welcomed home by our Lord after ninety-five years of faithful service. Born in Pozzalo, Sicily, to Salvatore Colombo and Orazia Gerratana, Carmelo enjoyed his youth, surrounded by family and the Mediterranean Sea.

When Carmelo was 19 years of age, he and his family came to America, settling in Brooklyn, NY.

Having been well educated, Carmelo was able to enroll in college, majoring in Biology. Carmelo enjoyed a long career as a research scientist. He was truly passionate in his work and was living his calling. He has contributed countless findings through his research in his focused work in arthritis. We absolutely can thank him for progressing understanding and resulting pharmaceutical responses to the care of our loved ones dealing with arthritis.

Carmelo met Anna Maria Patti at a college function one evening. He was certain he had found “the one”. Anna Maria waited two years for his return from duty during the Korean War. Not long afterwards they were married. Together they have been devoted partners throughout the highs and lows of life for 66 remarkable years.

Carmelo was blessed with creativity across many forms. Whether he was developing house plans, or building stone walls and patios, implementing landscape designs, making bird houses, cooking incredible Italian meals or painting landscapes of Sicily and his cherished Vermont, Carmelo applied creative solutions and aesthetics to all areas of his life. He was always deep in thought for planning his next great creative production.

Above all else, Carmelo treasured the family who cherished him. His daughter, Grazia Simon, his son, Salvatore Colombo and his daughter, Adriana Tuczinski, all of whom were devoted to him throughout their lives; his brother, Francesco and sister-in-law, Maria; his much loved sons-in-law, Joseph Simon and Daniel Tuczinski and also his ever present daughter-in-law, Denise Colombo; and his grandchildren that brought out his greatest smiles: Doug Simon, Carl Simon, Alex Colombo, Janna Corbelle, James Spitzenberger, Nicholas Colombo, Danielle Many, Jennifer Many; and finally great grandchildren that will carry on his beautiful genes, Jay Corbelle, Angela Corbelle, Cillian Colombo, Louis Jerry and Damian Jerry. We will all remain eternally grateful to Our Heavenly Father for the priceless gift of our precious Papa and Nonno.

Always a religious man, Carmelo is a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. He has always led by example, helped anyone before him and praised God for his good life. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Ready Funeral Home in Burlington, VT at 9 -11 AM this Friday December 9th. A Mass, in celebration of his life, will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South Burlington, VT. Burial will follow nearby at Resurrection Cemetery. With appreciation, an option to floral gifts are donations to St. Jude Research Hospital.

Our most heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make Carmelo’s life so wonderfully rich and beautifully complete. May the legacy of his goodness live on in the hearts and lives of all who knew him.

Burlington, Vt – David Charles Cherhoniak,68, born April 1,1953 in Derby CT, passed on October 16, 2021. David lived much of his adult life on the East Haven shore in Connecticut. Welcoming family and friends to enjoy the beach and water of the Long Island Sound, his passion for this area of Connecticut was infectious. David’s family and friends celebrated and relaxed many days with him throughout the years. He also had a love and passion for sports, real estate and traveling the coast lines.

David was the beloved son of the late Charles and Priscilla (Tarasuk) Cherhoniak. He was raised at 61 Moss Avenue, Seymour, CT, at their family home. He is survived by his siblings who loved him very much; Kathleen Collins, Chuck Cherhoniak, Priscilla Connelly, sister-in-law, Carol Cherhoniak and brother-in-laws, Gerald Collins(now deceased)and George Connelly. Burlington, VT – Brian Keith Billings II, known to his family and friends as “Little B”, passed away unexpectedly October 2, 2022.

He was born May 9, 1985 in Burlington, Vermont, the son of Brian K. Billings and Lee Anne (Gestner) Billings.

Brian attended Burlington schools and as a boy, participated in local youth sports, playing both baseball and hockey. He was a familiar face in his neighborhood and could often be seen with his siblings and friends at Roosevelt Park or the Burlington Boy’s and Girl’s club, or riding his bike, a happy, good natured kid.

Friends and family recall his love of art and his talent for sketching and painting.

As an adult, Brian’s interests turned toward the construction trades, particularly carpentry, but he was ready to apply his hand to any task needed to get a job done.

Down to earth with a wry sense of humor and a generous heart, Brian was devoted to his family and circle of friends, always ready and willing to help whenever and wherever he was needed.

Brian leaves his devoted fiancé Kylie Clark, who was the love of his life, and their two children, Liam, and Aubrianna. He also leaves his oldest son Brian III, and his mother Mary Marcelino.

Brian is survived by his grandmother Claire (Jeannie) Gestner, his stepmother, Natalie Billings, his mother’s partner, Robert Gleason, his mother-in-law, Kathy Huff and Kathy’s children Cole, Kayla, and Kelsey Huff.

He leaves his beloved siblings; brothers Thomas R. Billings and his fiancé Tara Jarvis, Matthew M. Billings and his wife Brittany, and his sisters Jeannie Lynn Morrill and Shelby Billings. He leaves step-siblings Jodi Hammond and her husband Richard, and Christopher Landry and his wife Nicole.

Brian will be missed by his adoring aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins and friends far too numerous to mention.

Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents Jacqueline May (Moody) and Ernest Francis Billings Jr., by his uncle William Gestner, and his nephew Killian Ronan.

A memorial will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 5 to 7pm at Elmwood Meunier Funeral Home, 97 Elmwood Avenue, in Burlington. If you are able to donate, a GoFundMe has been established and approved by all family for his fiancé Kylie and for the benefit of Brian’s three children.
