Plainville, Connecticut – Elizabeth (Dulac) Lackey, 96, of Plainville, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and caretaker, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.  She was the wife of the late Donald Lackey, who predeceased her in 2002.

Born in Bristol on May 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Corinne “Blanche” (Pelletier) Dulac.  She attended Plainville Schools and was a graduate of the former Teacher’s College of Connecticut, now CCSU, with a Bachelor of Science in Education, followed by graduate courses in Educating the Learning Disabled.  A well-loved and dedicated teacher, Elizabeth taught both regular and special education for more than 24 years at Linden, Broad Street, Trask and Wheeler Elementary Schools.

One of her greatest accomplishments was writing and having her book published; One Man’s Dedication, the Story of Dr. E. Sirois.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, where she was active in many capacities during her lifetime, including study groups, the Ladies Guild, and the chairing of countless committees. Additionally she taught religious education, and for many years, was a friendly and familiar face at daily mass.

The family would like to thank Betty’s caregivers, Priscilla and Rosemary for their excellent care and also the staff at Always Best Care for their support and assistance.

Donations may be made in Elizabeth’s name to Our Lady of Calvary Retreat House 31 Colton Street Farmington, CT.

She is survived by her children, Maureen Lackey, with whom she made her home, Karen Raccio and her husband, Edward, and Christine Huhn and her husband Gregory; her grandchildren, Christine Arruda and her husband, Eric, Daniel Raccio, Michael Huhn and Joseph Huhn; and three great-grandchildren, Mason, Bryce, and Jack Arruda.  She also leaves her sister and best friend, Theresa Rapacky, along with many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband Donald, she was predeceased by her son, Kevin Lackey, and her brothers, Joseph and Richard Dulac.
