Robert Afton Bohman

Lakewood, Colorado – Robert Afton Bohman. With the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Robert Afton Bohman, 96, of Lakewood, Colorado on December 12, 2022.

Born on November 7, 1926 to Alma Afton and Ruby Madsen Bohman in Monroe, Utah. At age 17 he volunteered for service in the US Navy and was stationed in the Pacific theater of operation during World War II.

After the war he attended Utah State University and then transferred to Brigham Young University where he graduated in 1950 with a BS in Geological Engineering. He went on to work for the Federal Highways Department in Lakewood, Colorado for a long and illustrious career accruing many awards and commendations. After retiring he was a highly respected consultant and worked with contractors on projects in the US and abroad.
Robert married his beloved Edwina Belle Spear in 1955, and was blessed with four children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife Edwina; daughter Julie; siblings Beverly Bee, Bruce “Bus”. He is survived by sons Joe, Todd (Cory); daughter Jamie (Ken) Myer; brother John.


He was our rock, our foundation. His strong will, determination and love set the standard we all could strive for. His curiosity and drive to understand and adapt to the ever-changing world kept him young at heart. We will miss his strength, his sharp and analytical mind, his gentle nature and his wonderful sense of humor. He leaves a legacy of accomplishment, family values and a genuine goodness of heart and action. He will never be forgotten.


Vigil Service Tuesday, December 20, 2022, 6:00 pm, Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227. Funeral Mass Wednesday December 21, 2022, 10:00 am, St. Jude Catholic Church, 9405 West Florida Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232. Interment Fort Logan National Cemetery, 1:00 pm.
