Michael David Lipousky

Bucksport, Maine – Michael David Lipousky passed away quietly at home December 2, 2022, with his friends by his side. After a lengthy and painful battle with cancer, he had a rapid decline and his suffering finally ceased. His parents, Marvin and Betty Lipousky, were with him in his final days also.

Michael was born in Columbus, Ohio, on May 13, 1966, and lived with his family in Anchorage, Alaska, Boston, Massachusetts and Spring Lake, Rhode Island before they moved to Maine in 1969. He attended the old Stockton Springs elementary school, where he played on the merry go round and jungle gym as a youngster. He graduated in 1984 from Searsport District High School and attended the Franklin Institute of Technology for a brief period. Michael went on to become a carpenter and woodworker.

He enjoyed boating at Green Lake with his friends from early spring to late fall, and often camped there. He also helped his parents with their ocean-going boat, working tirelessly to get it ready in the spring and put it away in the fall, as well as acting as crew on day trips up and down the coast exploring inlets, harbors and islands in the area.

Mike’s true passion was collecting artifacts. Over many years he discovered, organized and meticulously labeled thousands of arrowheads, spear points, axes and other stone tools that he found along Maine’s coastline, often venturing quite far to find them.

Mike had wonderful friends, and they had parties and picnics in all seasons of the year. His friends were tight-knit, loyal, kind and supportive as he battled cancer for eight years. They drive him to and from various hospitals. Sincere thanks goes to the Stockton Springs Ambulance Department for taking him to Waldo County General Hospital numerous times.

Michael was straight forward, intelligent, practical, and consistently told you what he thought. He was a kid at heart and loved flying his remote-controlled aircraft with friends at the Winterport airfield.

Michael is predeceased by his sister, Suzanne Lisa Lipousky, who died in an automobile accident in 1988. He is survived by his parents, Betty Lipousky (87), his father Col. Marvin Lipousky (USAF, Retired, 89), who live in Searsport, and his sister, Rochelle (Lipousky) Putnam who lives in Rancho Santa Fe, California (60) with her husband James Putnam.

Services were held at the Mitchell-Tweedy Funeral Home at 28 Elm Street in Bucksport, Maine on Thursday December 8th. Visitation with the family will be at 11:30 and the service will follow at 12:30. The internment at the Mt. Prospect Cemetery will take place in later in the spring.
