the Villages, Florida – It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joann Marie Hartman, 77, of Fort Myers, FL, who left us peacefully on December 15, 2024. Born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Joann was a vibrant soul who lived life to the fullest, and her bright spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Joann graduated from Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, George Hartman, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of love and marriage.
Her energy was infectious, and she thrived in the company of family and friends. Joann was a woman of many interests and passions—she enjoyed staying active and was always up for trying something new. A lover of games and laughter, she could often be found playing cards or dancing, filling the room with her joy. Above all, she was a devoted grandmother, and her grandchildren brought her immeasurable pride. She loved to spoil them, and no gathering was complete without Joann’s signature cooking to bring everyone together.
Joann is survived by her loving husband, George Hartman, of Fort Myers, FL; her son, George Hartman Jr. and Corinne Lietz, of Chicago Heights, IL; and her daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Lisa Davis, of Atlanta, GA. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many dear friends and family members who will forever cherish her memory.
A memorial service for Joann will be held at St. Columbkille Parish, December 19th, at 10:30am in the chapel.
