Jean Solari O’Rourke

Jean Solari O’Rourke, born October 29, 1932, peacefully left this earth on November 23, 2024, surrounded by her children, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph G. and Elizabeth (Molin) Solari, and her siblings, Joseph J. Solari, Robert Solari and Elizabeth Solari Downey. Jean was immensely proud of her heritage and family roots dating back to Carrara, Italy. She remained close to relatives throughout the southeast, particularly her cousin Wilma Liprie in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Jean, a proud lifelong Vermonter, grew up in Center Rutland, VT, graduating from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1950, and the Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington, VT, class of 1953. She was a dedicated caregiver, volunteer, and champion of Rutland Catholic Schools. Jean was a steadfast member of Christ the King Parish.

Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren. Whether she was called Grammy, Noni, or Nana, she was their fiercest fan and most loyal supporter. She taught by example, emphasized values, and prioritized family above all. She was, and will forever be, their North Star.

Jean is survived by her five children, Bill (Sandy) O’Rourke and grandchildren Kevin (Hillary) O’Rourke, Melanie O’Rourke (Geoff Bloomer), Brian and Patrick O’Rourke; Mary Jean (Kerry) Falco and grandchildren Nick (Katherine) Falco, Christian (Kristy) Falco, and Elizabeth (Brandon) Norton; Chris (Lara) O’Rourke and grandchildren Sean and Ryan O’Rourke; Jim (Cindy) O’Rourke and grandchildren Emma, Jack, and Erin O’Rourke; and Julie (Brian) Foley and grandchildren Brigid, Mickey, Matt and Kate Foley. She was blessed with seven great grandchildren, and is the beloved aunt, great aunt, cousin, neighbor, and cherished friend to many. She was a kind and gentle soul; all who knew her, loved her.

We are grateful for the care she received at Mountain View Center.

Funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church 66 South Main Street Rutland, VT on January 4, 2025 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.
