Rensselaer-Janet R. Handford, 90, of Rensselaer passed away peacefully Friday, November 11th 2022.
Janet was born in Albany, New York the daughter of the late Victor and Rhea (Morris) Johnson.
She had a full life surrounded by family and friends. She was a loving wife & mother raising 5 children with her husband Benjamin and spent over 22 years as a bank teller for Key Bank.
Janet had many passions in life including a love for animals, particularly Cocker Spaniels, The New York Yankees, and anything Walt Disney. She also loved traveling and a good book. Janet was an avid reader and enjoyed a boundless library of books ready to immerse herself in a good adventure.
However, she had no bigger passion than her family.
Survivors include Two daughters, Vicki (Paul) Capel, Susan (Michael) McCabe; three sons, David Handford, Jeffrey (Cindy) Handford, and Charles (Meagan) Handford ; Janet was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren
She was predeceased by her Spouse of over 50 years, Benjamin N. Handford; Sister, Ruth Johnson;
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday 1:00pm in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc. 165 Columbia Tpk. Rensselaer, NY 12144 . Friends may call prior to the funeral from 11:00am -1:00pm.
Interment will be in Greenbush Cemetery.
