Irene Heiliger, 101, of Fort Atkinson passed away on November 27, 2024 at Wellington Meadows in Fort Atkinson.
Irene was born on September 28, 1923 in rural Fort Atkinson to Ewald and Rose (Schilling) Wolff. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1941 and went to work at Cremery Package as an administrative assistant. She later worked at Friendly Finance and First National Bank. On January 25, 1946, she married Leonard Heiliger at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson. They were blessed with 77 years of marriage.
She enjoyed traveling and together they saw the whole United States. They went on cruises to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska. In later years, they often went to Branson, MO. Irene was an avid reader stamp collector. She became a fan of Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Packers,
Irene was a member of the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson. She volunteered at Bethesda and also delivered Meals on Wheels.
Irene is survived by her son, James Heiliger; and Cori and Jeremy Niemuth.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, who passed this last January

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 11AM at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 301 S. High St. Fort Atkinson, WI 53538. A visitation will take place from 10AM until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson.
