Beverly Jean Vogan

Beverly Jean Vogan passed away on May 17th, 2023 in Dansville MI. She was 84 years old. She was born Beverly Jean Howard on July 14th, 1938 in Owosso, MI. To the proud parents of Harvey and Opal Howard. She was the oldest of 3 children and lived in many places but spoke most often of the farm she loved and grew up on as a child, in Owosso.

Bev ran an in-home daycare for 36 years, where she loved and cared for hundreds of children from Mason and the surrounding areas. Many of whom would come back and visit with her after their time in her daycare was over. She loved them as her own and they knew it, and loved her back. In recent years she worked as the greeter for the Mason Meijer for 8 years before retiring in 2017. This was a great time in her life. She enjoyed seeing friends from town and even kids from her daycare days bringing their children in to see her. She  considered her co-workers and customers dear friends.

Bev (as known by most) met and then married the love of her life, James (Jim) Vogan, on May 28th, 1966. They spent 32 years together. Lived in several states and towns before settling down in Mason. MI. Where they built an amazing life as a family with their 3 children.

Beverly was an amazing softball player. She played from her teenage years well into adulthood. She was even part of the 1964 State Championship team. She loved to bowl, spending many Saturdays at the bowling alley with her kids. And other evenings with Jim or her dad, or on a women’s league. She enjoyed drawing, baking and writing poems. Even had one of her poems printed in a published book. She loved all kinds of music and movies as well.

Beverly had a heart of Gold! So caring, sweet and fun loving.  She was independent,  strong and honest. She was also very humble and shy, never wanting to be the center of attention. She loved every kind of animal and bird. But she had a special place in her heart for cats, even if it drove her neighbors crazy. Bev was an avid U of M fan but everyone knew the Detroit Tigers were her favorite sports team ever.

But more than anything else, Bev loved her family. Her greatest joy was her family. Jim was the love of her life along with her 3 children: Lori (Brad) Currie, Carrie (Ken) Baker and Chris (Stacy) Vogan, her 8 grandchildren: Julia Kramer, Mason, Austin & Katelyn Baker, Christopher Jr., Tara, Marcus & Izabelle Vogan, and her 4 great-grandchildren: Bailey, Oakley, Harper & Elliot.

She was proceeded in death by her husband James Vogan, her parents Harvey and Opal Howard and her brother Mike Howard. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister Mary Vincent and many nieces and nephews.
