Barbara Ann Celeste— Barbara Ann Celeste, 81, of Pattens Mills Rd., went home to Heaven Thursday, November 8, 2018.

Born February 7, 1937 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Albert and Alice (Demerse) Lemery.

Barb graduated from Queensbury High School.

In her younger years, Barb enjoyed bowling. Some of her more recent enjoyments included traveling, gambling, especially going to the casinos, playing cards with family and friends, and going to basket parties. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Survivor and was very active in her church. The most precious enjoyment to her was spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth F. Celeste; many siblings: Roland (Myrtle), Harold (Viola), Irving (Genevieve), Romeo, and Lawrence “Whitey” (Hazel) Lemery, and Jane (Frank) Allen and Julia (Leo) Wood; a step-daughter, Tina M. Straut; brothers-in-law, Emerson Bigelow, Joseph Crowley; and son-in-law, Jesse G. Kennedy.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Laurie J. Skellie, David (Flor) Skellie, Vince (Abby) Celeste, and Angela (Tony) Germany; many grandchildren, Rachel McCane, Renee Straut, Robby Straut, Lelac “Bing” Skellie, Eric “Chops” Skellie Haviland, Jeremiah Skellie, Samantha Celeste, Donald “DJ” Brilyea, Christian “Riley” Germany, and Ryan Kenneth “Little Kenny” Germany; great-grandchildren, Haley Straut, Maddison McCane, Ariana Straut, Caleb Haviland, Peyton LaCross, Kenneth McCane, Levi Straut, Gabriella Haviland, and Noah Brilyea; two sisters, Dorothy Crowley and Lorraine Bigelow; a nephew that was more like a brother, Earl Spellburg Jr.; and a special niece that was more like a sister, Ruth Bigelow; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours took place Monday, November 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. The Rosary Alter Society from St. Mary’s St. Paul’s Church gathered to pray for Barbara during calling hours.

A funeral service followed at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch officiating.

A graveside service will be private to the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Christopher Mason of C. R. Wood Cancer Center, Dr. Philip Gara Jr. of Fort Edward Internal Medicine and his nurse, Ellen, and Dr. Thomas Fabian of Albany Medical Center and his nurse, Dorothy.

In her loving memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
